BACKED UP WITH GOLD AND SILVER!He says that you can now put your money into bank accounts and have every pound backed by real gold and silver bullion, or alternatively, take the money (dinars - gold and dirhams - silver) and carry them around in your pocket (or use the money electronically). He says this makes it easier when you want to pay zakat (which, according to a scholar he quoted during the programme (from Al-Azhar University) can only be paid in gold or silver).
PROBLEM WITH CURRENT WORLD SYSTEMAhmad says that the current system does not work as it is based on making paper money that does not exist in reality, i.e. is not backed by physical gold and silver.
IMAGINATION = MISERYSo, people get poorer and more and more miserable and the system gets more and more difficult to live in; he gives the example of the people in poor countries and says they should just refuse to pay back these horrible, interest-based loans that are made to them by organisations such as the International Monetary Fund and the "World" Bank and just use what is in the ground.
BACK INTO THE GROUNDFunnily enough, he says that we seem to use gold and silver in the wrong way: we dig it out of the ground and purify it and make it into ingots... and then put in back into the ground, in vaults in the basements of buildings.
